The
coming of the Bell Aircraft Company in 1942 transformed Cobb County
from a relatively small, rural society into a large, affluent,
sophisticated suburban county. Join Dr. Tom Scott, Professor Emeritus of
History at Kennesaw State University, and Joe Kirby, prolific writer of
Cobb County history including The Bell Bomber Plant and Then & Now: Marietta,
for a panel discussion on how dynamic local leadership was able to win
the Bell plant, and how Bell Bomber transformed Marietta and the entire
metropolitan Atlanta area.
This special event is presented by the Department of Museums, Archives & Rare Books in conjunction with the temporary exhibition, Southern Industrial Landsapes: Photographs of the Marietta Bell Bomber Plant, 1942-1944, curated by Matthew Harper.
